Creative Knockouts Challenge #59 ~ Animal Friends

Animal Friends, that says it all!  I know that my kitty Zazu is my best cuddly, fluffy fur ball and best animal friend!  No matter what kind of animal it may be, they are all special.  So Creative Knockouts is celebrating our animal friends.
We are being sponsored by the great Sweet N Sassy Stamps.  They generously gave us several images to choose from, and my choice is this adorable little guy called "Rhubarb's Punkins".
He is perfect for the Autumn season!  I did lots of layers, colored him with my Copics, made a tag and added the flowers.

We would love to have you join us for this fun challenge.  It's your turn to show us your favorite animal friend!  Our DT has done some wonderful projects that you will be sure to appreciate, so come join the fun!

Creative Knockouts #54 ~ Happy Fall Y'all!

Hello friends.  We are about to enter my favorite season of the year, Autumn!  I love the smell of wood smoke in the air and the leaves changing colors.  To me it's "Mother Nature's" most beautiful season!

To celebrate this season we are doing a Fall challenge over at

We were free to choose any image we liked from our own collection, and I decided on this cute little guy from Dearie Dolls.  I love his adorable little round face and sweet smile!  The image also reminds me of playing in the falling leaves when I was a child, I loved it!

I colored him with my Copic's and mounted him on a die cut circle and frame.  The background is a variety of strips of Autumn papers.

Drop on by and visit us!  Our DT has done some fab creations for you that we hope you enjoy.  See you there!

For My Son-In-Law, Travis!

It doesn't seem that long ago I posted a card for Travis when he left for Alaska (but to my daughter it has seemed like AGES!).  He is coming home on September 13th, his birthday!  I made two cards for him, the first for my daughter to give him, and the second from me for his birthday.

Welcome Home

Happy Birthday

The airplane is a cut file from the Silhouette on line store.  I used it because Travis loves to fly.  He will be going up on his birthday.
Happy Birthday Travis & Happy Flying!

Creative Knockouts #51 TAG IT!

Our theme for this challenge at Creative Knockouts is to use a tag.  I must admit, I don't do a lot of them, but when I do I sure enjoy creating them.  They can be used in so many ways; on a present, a gift bag, bottle of wine, on a card, the options have no limits!  For my tag I used this cute image given to us by our super sponsor  digistamps4joy.
They have a fab selection of images!  It's called "Bettie Bow", soooo adorable!  I made the tag and then applied it to a card.

Be sure to drop by Creative Knockouts and see the great challenges they have going on!  The DT have some awesome creative inspiration for you.

Sunny Day

We are half way through the week and all is well at my home.  I'm sure some of you have seen in the media all the rain and flooding we are having here in Phoenix and surrounding areas.  What a mess!  I really feel sorry for the people having to deal with all the damage from the storms.  Hopefully they will get assistance to repair their homes.

Today's card is another for my Aunt Mary.  I ordered a new die cut by Creative Expressions called "Austrian Collection - Background", and I LOVE it.  It is so quick and easy to make a lovely card.  I am going to cut a bunch in different colors just to have them ready to work with.

Enjoy the rest of the week, the weekend is not too far away!
Hugs to all.

This card is entered in the following challenges:
Amusing Challenges ~ Die Cut
PDE Linky Party ~ Metal Dies or Punches

Thinking of You Bouquet

Happy Friday everyone!  Time to have some fun over the weekend!  I have house guests arriving and I am thrilled to be sharing time with them.  I wanted to post this card before I get too busy!

It is hard as we get older to reconcile to the thought that life moves so fast.  Having recently put my Pop in a care facility has really been a wake up call for me.  Now he and both of his surviving sisters are in care facilities.  They are 94, and 92 years old, and Pop is 93.  I know that they enjoy receiving "snail mail" and like to set the cards out for a bit of cheer.  This card is for my Aunt Mary whom I adore.  When I was a child she sewed tons of doll clothes for my dolls, and also matching outfits for me!  She is a very talented seamstress, and still sews at 94!  Amazing!

I hope this brings a smile and a bit of sunshine to her day.

For My Dear Friend

It is always so hard when a friend is going through sorrows and sad times.  My SBC (Sister By Choice) if facing one of those times now.  In the past week she has lost a very dear friend, and yesterday she had to put her beloved kitty, Pippy, down.  It breaks my heart to see her dealing with these events.  She loves receiving my cards, so I did this one for her to let her know how much she is appreciated and that I am there for her as she always is for me.

I cut the "lattice" top piece on my Silhouette and laid it over a piece of flowered paper from my new pack called "Park Bench" by Fancy Pants Designs.  I hand made the flowers from punch pieces and added the flourishes and butterfly from a die cut.  Then I added the sentiment and the fancy pin.

Our friends are so important.  I cherish her friendship and am so thankful to have her in my life.  Let your friends know that you care ~ you never know when you may not be able to tell them how happy you are to have them in your life.

Boy, two weeks have just flown by!  It's time for another fun challenge over at CC&CC!  This time we are showcasing our feathered friends, the birds.  Our super sponsor Mel Jens Designs let us choose our image, and I decided on "Fancy Swirls Peacock".  I love the look of it, quite a classy image.

The peacock feather paper was printed out from an online pattern and used a punch for the right side.  I colored my peacock with my Copics, mounted it on a die cut and put it on a piece of embossed paper.

Come on over to CC&CC and see the lovely creation that our DT have don for you.  Then, it's your turn to share a card with your favorite feathered friend!

My New Love!

Since I left Hawaii 4 years ago to care for my Pop here in Phoenix it has been so hard without my cats.  I had to leave them behind.  We lived in a very rural area with no main highways and they were free to roam, and roam they did!  If I had brought them here to a busy neighborhood, I am sure they would not have survived.  Cars were nothing to them and I know they would have gotten hit.  I never would have forgiven myself for that, so I found them good homes in our neighborhood.

NOW, I have finally gotten a NEW BABY!!!  His name is ZAZU and is 9 weeks old.  What a little lovie fur ball he is!  He follows me everywhere, is always wanting to cuddle and hug -
MY KIND OF CAT!
He has taken quite an interest in my card making too, lol!  He loves to watch my Silhouette when it is cutting.  Just adorable!

It is so GREAT to have a sweet kitty again!

A Personal Note

Hello friends.  I am sad to report that this past week and a half has been a very difficult one.  My Pop went into the hospital on Thursday the 12th of June.  He has suffered another "mini stroke" and it has left him very weak and tired.  He told me it was time and he was ready to make the transition to a nursing facility.  He is to the point that he needs more care than I can give him at home, even with the assistance of his aid twice a week.  So on Wednesday the 17th he entered his new "home".  It is a very nice place, cheerful, lovely staff, nice grounds and will give him all that he needs.  He is getting settled in, but I know it will take some time for him to come to terms with all of it.  As a child having to do this for a parent, it is something that none of us would want, but has to be done.  It's been 4 years since I moved here to Phoenix from Hawaii to care for him.  Part of me is relieved, the other half is so sad.

Chocolate, Coffee & Cards Challenge #66 ~ Black & White + 1 Color

Time for another great challenge at CC&CC, and this time it is with the wonderful A Day For Daisies.  Their images have such a distinctive look, and I love that look!  So choose a color and join in the fun!  The prize is a $12 gift certificate to use on their blog, FUN!!!

I went for a different type of image for this challenge, not a person!  I used the image called "Canned Pear".  My one color is lime green.

I sent this to my daughter and her husband for their 4th wedding anniversary this month.  The date is the 19th, but I sent it early so that Travis could see it before he went to Alaska.

Be sure to go see the lovely cards the DT have done for your inspiration, they are REALLY amazing!  You'll be sure to get your mojo working when you see them!

New Hydrangea Die Cut Set

Don't you just love it when you get a new item to craft with!?!  Using it for the first time is sooo exciting!  I really enjoyed playing with this item.  It is a die set from Impression Obsession of a hydrangea.  I have always loved that flower as it reminds me of my childhood.  They grew so beautifully at my Aunts house.  They reminded me of big pom-poms!

I had to punch a LOT of the tiny flowers, lol!  I used 3 colors of lavender to give it a bit of dimension.  I really like how the flower came out!  I know this die will be used again and again.
